~*~ How MATT Auctions Work ~*~
There is no fixed price and no fixed edition size. The market decides both.
What is a MATT auction?
MATT stands for Maximum Affordable Token Total.
In a traditional sale, the artist guesses: “I’ll sell 10 editions at 0.5 ETH.” But what if 100 people would have paid 0.1 ETH, or only three people wanted it at 2 ETH?
A MATT auction removes the guessing. The edition size and price are found organically.
236 figures. 236 auctions.
Every M.U.S.C.L.E. figure gets its own independent MATT auction. The market decides the rarity of each one. A popular figure may attract many bids and end with a larger edition; an obscure figure may receive only a few bids and become paradoxically rarer.
That mirrors physical M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting, where the least-known figures can be the hardest to find. Which figures will be rarest? Which will everyone want? That is up to you.
Bid on every live auction at once
The Wave lets you bid on one of every figure with a live auction in one action. You choose an individual maximum for each figure, then the site shows the total ETH that must be escrowed for all of those bids.
The total is not a guaranteed purchase price—each figure still has its own changing clearing price. New positions ask for one edition. Existing positions keep their quantity and show only the additional ETH required. The site checks the whole Wave again before opening your wallet.
1. Place your bid
Choose the maximum price per edition you would pay and how many copies you want. Price × quantity = maximum bid. You can raise either number while bidding is live, but you cannot lower it.
2. Find the optimal price
At each price level, include everyone who bid that amount or higher. Multiply that price by the total editions requested. The price that produces the most revenue wins. If two prices tie, the lower one wins so more people receive figures.
| Cut | Uniform price | Editions | Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.01 ETH | 1 | 0.01 ETH |
| 2 | 0.001 ETH | 21 | 0.021 ETH |
| 3 | 0.0001 ETH | 251 | 0.0251 ETH |
The winning price is 0.0001 ETH. Anyone who bid 0.0001 ETH or more receives every edition they requested. Higher bidders pay only 0.0001 ETH per figure and get the difference back.
3. Claim your figures and refund
Once the auction settles, come back to claim. If your maximum bid met or beat the winning price, you receive every copy you requested and get back anything you deposited above the final cost.
If your bid did not win, you get the whole bid back. Figures and refunds are claimed in separate transactions, and each transaction requires gas. You may send the figures or the refund to a different wallet when you claim.
